Curious by Nature, Camerman by Trade
Hey, Hey! It's Demetrius. I like making films and taking photos, and I’ve been doing it for over ten years. I once deleted all the family photos from a month-long trip to Europe, and I’ve been trying to make up for it ever since. The bright side is that I have a firm understanding of what “format card ” means.
My creative journey really began in Middle School, where I always preferred making a movie over writing a paper. I made claymations or explainer videos on what PEMDAS means to get out of putting pen to paper. From there, I had an incredibly influential film teacher in High School who taught me the ins and outs of filmmaking and encouraged the habit. He would host screenings with folks like Jennifer Lawrence ( Don’t Look Up, Hunger Games, No Hard Feelings) and John G. Avildsen, director of Rocky (1976) and The Karate Kid (1984), and somehow get us private tours of Pixar Studios in Emeryville. I swear that man knows how to work his connections. I mean how could I not go into filmmaking with folks like that around?!?!
Looking for a change of weather and to see what all the hype was about on the East Coast. I went to Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vermont, where I dabbled in Computer Science but majored in Film and Media Culture. In my junior year, I had the incredible opportunity to study abroad in Prague with the NYU Tisch 35MM directing course, where I got to write and direct a short film on 35mm about two old men trying to steal beer from a beer garden.
After graduating from Middlebury in 2016, I worked for a couple of years as a Digital Media Producer in their Communications and Marketing Department, where I wrote, produced, directed, and edited a range of projects, from a short documentary about the history of Middlebury’s Carillon to nostalgic videos about winters at Middlebury.
Eventually, I left Middlebury College and cofounded 273 Productions, a full-service creative agency in Burlington, Vermont. Our goal was to help Vermont small businesses mimic their in-person experience online. We worked with companies like Whistlepig Whiskey, Vermont Small Business Development Corporation, and Danforth Pewter.
Looking for my next adventure after being in Vermont for 10 years, I moved to Saipan, CNMI.
